Abstract

Dramatic landscape change affects how individuals and communities relate to their surroundings. Using the example of a forest fire in Sweden I will present how a theoretical model for ‘Landscape Identity’ was developed to address lost connections to landscape. I will discuss how the ‘Landscape Identity model’ informed a multi-method and interdisciplinary driven study, creating qualitative, quantitative and map based data. Finally, I will then show how from the data attained we were able to reveal a positive correlation between connection to place before the fire and perceived well-being after the fire.

This webinar is organized by the University of Newcastle, partner in the Heriland project.
